Esmé Muriel Fitzgibbon was born on 31 May 1904. She was the daughter of Philip John Fitzgibbon and Ruth Mary Hearn. She married, firstly, Rear-Admiral Clarence Dinsmore Howard-Johnston, son of John Howard-Johnston and Dorothy Florence Baird, on 28 June 1928 at St. John’s, Southwick Crescent, Paddington, London, England. She and Rear-Admiral Clarence Dinsmore Howard-Johnston were divorced in 1940. She married, secondly, Commander Michael Gustavus Fowke, son of Sir Frederick Ferrers Conant Fowke, 3rd Bt. and Edith Frances Daubeney Rawdon, on 15 February 1943. She died in November 1994 at age 90. From 28 June 1928, her married name became Howard-Johnston.1 From 15 February 1943, her married name became Fowke [via thepeerage]
