thought I was all done with 1933 flicks, but apparently not!  I caught Rowland V Lee’s Zoo In Budapest at Maryland’s cinema treasure – The AFI Silver.  Zoo stars Gene Raymond as a kindly zoo keeper, who helps ‘orphan’ Loretta Young escape the orphanage by hiding out in the zoo… IN BUDAPEST!!! hearts throb, and then a little boy, also on the loose, opens a tiger cage and all hell breaks lose!  elephants start breaking down cages, lions fight tigers, tigers fight elephants and the humans are helpless to stop it all!!  there was no CGI back then so these animals appeared to really be fighting one another!!  CRAZY TOWN!!!!
