Brady won a Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1938 but was too sick to attend the event. So when her name was called, a man walked up to accept her award for her. Standard protocol, except for one thing. Nobody knew who the man was. The trophy vanished along with the man and was never seen again. Alice Brady died of cancer in 1939 before a replacement Oscar could be made
