Janet Moore Howard
was the daughter of entomologist and Science Service board member Leland Ossian Howard (1857-1950). In the late 1920s, Janet Howard worked on the Science Service staff and was a frequent tennis partner of journalist Frank Thone. While Howard was living in Paris in March 1931, Thone wrote to her that, now the weather was starting to improve, “Science Service tennis is just beginning to crack the shell of its hibernation. A few of us got out and played for a while last Saturday, although it was rather cold and windy.” (Frank Thone to Janet Howard, March 12, 1931)
