finally got around to seeing Jean Renoir‘s The Rules of the Game (La Règle du jeu)
so, how is this the 4th best film of all time????? it’s probably not even the 44th best film of 1939!!! I don’t get it. the story’s simplistic, and mostly boring, and there’s nothing to it or to take away from it. you could send 444 film historians to my house and they still wouldn’t be able to convince me otherwise!!!
